The NYO Mission Statement
To enrich the musical life of Nottinghamshire by inspiring and involving young people.
The mission will be achieved by:
• developing participation in music by young people
• running 3 levels of orchestra with players' ability being matched to the most suitable orchestra
• providing bursaries to enable access for all
• performing a wide repertoire, combining familiar classics with less well known works, including contemporary music commissions and world premieres
• our commitment to nurturing talented players, giving them the encouragement to progress through the orchestras and develop to the best of their potential
• working with high quality professional musicians to develop the talents of the players and committed individuals to ensure the smooth running of the organisation
• our annual programme of national and international tours, residentials and one off courses which provide a platform for personal and social development while expanding musical knowledge and skills.
• developing strong links with local schools and community groups through outreach projects. Offering opportunities to experience and be involved in music making which are not normally accessible.
