NYIO 2nd Violins

Sarah joined the NYO tutor team some years ago and thinks tutoring for NYO is the best part of her working week.

Sarah started violin at the age of seven and won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music Junior Department when she was 12. She studied a Performing Arts degree in Leicester, completed her teacher training in Birmingham, and gained a post graduate Diploma in Music Therapy at Roehampton. She’s had a varied musical career, working as a music administrator, secondary school music teacher, music therapist and violin teacher.

Sarah fell in love with chamber music, especially quartets, when she went on a music course as a teenager. Wherever she has been based, Sarah has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles often as section principal. She is a founder member of the East Midlands based Helix Ensemble which she helps run.

“I love ensemble playing because it enables you to meet a large number of amazing people whilst exploring a vast amount of fabulous and diverse repertoire.”
