Sarah Cresswell - Biography


Sarah Cresswell - NTO 2nd violin tutor Sarah won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music, Junior Department at the age of 12 where she studied violin, piano and singing.  After completing a Performing Arts Degree at Leicester, she moved to Birmingham to do a PGCE in Music Education.  She then settled in Derby where she taught music before heading south again to do a Post Graduate Diploma in Music Therapy at Roehampton.  On returning to Derby, she worked for a local music therapy charity based in Nottingham and in special schools in Derby.  For the past 10 years, Sarah has been teaching the violin in the Derby area and is an accredited teacher with the Derbyshire Music Hub.  She is currently principal 2nd violin of the Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra, is a founder member of the East Midlands-based Helix Ensemble which she helps to run and enjoys playing chamber music.  In her spare time Sarah enjoys walking, cycling and gardening.
