Elizabeth began playing the violin initially and took up the cello when she moved to secondary school. She was exposed to music at an early age as she was often taken along to hear the dance band sessions both her father and grandfather played in.
She currently works for the City of Nottingham Arts in Education Centre, which includes running a string chamber group for young players at Nottingham Music School. She also teaches the cello privately and in school. As well as tutor for the cellos of the NYTO she is also involved with the Stringwise courses run by the Nottingham Choral Trust.
Elizabeth plays regularly in the NSO. Other groups for which she has played include the Nottingham Chamber Orchestra, Nottingham Choral Trust Concert Orchestra, Nottingham Bach Society, Derby Bach Orchestra and Southwell Camerata as well as playing in a string quartet at various functions.
