Clare Bhabra

NYO 1st Violins

Clare has been a professional violinist for over 30 years having started her career in the orchestra of Opera North. She has freelanced with most of the professional orchestras around the country, but now concentrates on quartet playing and teaching, as well as leading the Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra.

Clare remembers her own years in the youth orchestra in Croydon as being one of her happiest musical memories. Brahms Symphony No 2 and Nielson Symphony No 1 were played here for the first time and the opening bars of both these works instantly takes her back to the days of upside down bowing in the second violins (string players will know what this means!)

“There really is no better feeling than studying and performing a major orchestral work with a group of friends.”

— Clare Bhabra
