Orchestra

Senior Orchestra

  • 9:15
    Senior Orchestra players arrive at the Albert Hall. Instruments and belongings to be left in the two left hand rooms in the bar area. There will also be a separate room for LARGE instruments directly opposite the NYO green rooms. This is not a changing room
  • 9:30 - 11:45
    Senior Orchestra rehearsal
  • 11:45
    Senior Orchestra players leave the building.
  • 13:50
    Senior Orchestra percussion section returns in concert dress and report to the Great Hall.
  • 13:55 - 14:40
    Senior Orchestra percussion rehearsal with Training and Intermediate percussion
  • 14:30
    All other Senior Orchestra players report to the Green Room in concert dress. There will be a separate room for large instruments directly opposite the NYO green rooms. This is not a changing room.
  • 14:50
    Senior Orchestra take their reserved seats in the arena area with instruments and music to watch the Intermediate Orchestra perform on stage (LARGE instruments should be left in the RH syndicate room in the bar). Senior Orchestra - Arena seating: towards the back of the hall (rows H, I, J). Percussion players will be seated in the choir stalls behind the stage

    Concert begins - Intermediate Orchestra perform on stage
  • 15:40
    Changeover (Intermediate → Senior) - Senior and Training percussion move onto the stage to join Intermediate percussion for the 10 minute percussion changeover performance. Meanwhile, all other Intermediate players leave the stage with instruments and music and go to their reserved arena seating. Senior Orchestra (non-percussion): Leave your arena seats and move to your right (as you face the stage) to form a queue while the stage is being rearranged, maintaining a continuous rightward flow. Those who play LARGE instruments should first head to the RH syndicate room in the bar to collect their instruments and then make their way to the right hand side of the stage. Take your seats on stage when directed. A one-way system is in place throughout. Please follow tutor directions. After the percussion changeover performance, Intermediate and Training percussion leave the stage and return to their seats in the choir stalls. Senior percussion remain in place on stage.

    Senior Orchestra perform - Shostakovich I & II.

    Interval - Jazz in the bar (NYJO).

    Interval - Senior Orchestra return to the green roomS with instruments and music. LARGE instruments to be left in the RH syndicate room in the bar area

    Senior Orchestra take their reserved seats in the arena area with instruments and music (LARGE instruments to be left in the RH syndicate room in the bar area). ARENA seating: towards the back of the hall, (Rows H, I, J) ready to watch the Training Orchestra perform on stage

    Concert resumes, Training Orchestra perform.
  • 17:15
    Changeover (Training → Senior) - Senior and Intermediate percussion move onto the stage to join Training percussion for the 10 minute percussion changeover performance. All other Training Orchestra players leave the stage with instruments and music and return to their green room to deposit instruments and music before returning to the reserved ARENA seating. Senior Orchestra (non-percussion): Leave your seats and move to your right (as you face the stage) to form a queue while the stage is being rearranged, maintaining a continuous rightward flow. Those who play LARGE instruments should first collect them from the RH syndicate room in the bar area before heading to the right hand side of the stage. When directed, take your places on stage, ready to play. A one-way system is in place throughout, please follow tutor instructions.

    Concert ends, Senior Orchestra players pack away and meet parents in the foyer.
Orchestra

Intermediate Orchestra

  • 11:30 - 11:45
    Intermediate Orchestra players arrive at the Albert Hall in concert dress and report to the City Suite. LARGE instruments to be stored in the room at the back of the bar as normal
  • 12:00 - 13:00
    Intermediate Orchestra rehearsal.
  • 13:00
    Break in the Green Room (City Suite). Bring a packed lunch (no nuts) and drink.
  • 13:55 - 14:40
    Intermediate Orchestra percussion rehearsal with Training and Senior percussion. Intermediate percussion stay in the hall after the percussion rehearsal ready to take their places on stage for the start of the concert.

    Intermediate Orchestra take their seats on stage
  • 15:00
    Concert begins - Intermediate Orchestra perform on stage
  • 15:40
    Changeover (Intermediate → Senior) - Senior and Training percussion move onto the stage to join Intermediate percussion for the 10 minute percussion changeover performance. Meanwhile, all other Intermediate players: Exit the stage to your right (as you face the audience), taking your instruments and music with you, to maintain a continuous rightward flow. Intermediate players move to the reserved ARENA seating towards the back of the hall (Rows H, I, J), replacing the Senior Orchestra. Players of LARGE instruments should first return their instruments to the room at the back of the bar area before taking their reserved ARENA seats. After the percussion changeover performance, Intermediate and Training percussion leave the stage and return to their seats in the choir stalls. Important: Follow the one-way system at all times. Move quietly and promptly. Follow tutor instructions.

    Concert resumes - Senior Orchestra perform on stage.
  • 16:15
    Interval - Jazz in the bar (NYJO).
  • 16:35
    Intermediate Orchestra take their reserved seats in the arena area. Arena seating: back of the hall, (Rows K, L, M, N, back 4 rows) ready to watch the Training and Senior Orchestras perform on stage.
  • 16:45
    Concert resumes - Training Orchestra perform.
  • 17:15
    Changeover (Training → Senior) - Intermediate and Senior percussion move onto the stage to join Training percussion for the 10 minute percussion changeover performance. After the percussion changeover performance: Training and Intermediate percussion leave the stage and go to their seating in the choir stalls

    Senior Orchestra perform.
  • 18:00
    Concert ends, Intermediate Orchestra return to the City Suite to pack away & collect belongings, then reunite with their families in the Great Hall.

Training Orchestra

  • 12:30 - 12:45
    Training Orchestra players arrive at the Albert Hall in concert dress and report to the Balmoral Suite. LARGE instruments to be left in the room at the back of the bar as normal
  • 13:15 - 13:55
    Training Orchestra rehearsal.
  • 13:55
    Break in the Green Room, Balmoral Suite, except percussion (13:55–14:40 percussion rehearsal). Bring a packed snack (no nuts) and a drink.

    Training Orchestra percussion rehearsal with Intermediate and Senior percussion.
  • 14:50
    Training Orchestra take their reserved seats in the arena area. Arena seating: (Rows K, L, M, N, back 4 rows) ready to watch the Intermediate and Senior Orchestras perform on stage. Training Orchestra Percussion take their seats in the Choir Stalls.

    Concert begins - Intermediate Orchestra perform on stage.

    Changeover (Training → Senior) - Senior and Intermediate percussion move onto the stage to join Training percussion for the 10 minute percussion changeover performance. Meanwhile, all other Training players: Exit the stage to your right (as you face the audience), taking your instruments and music with you, to maintain a continuous rightward flow. Return to the Balmoral Suite to deposit instruments and music then move to reserved arena seating towards the back of the hall (rows H, I, J), replacing the Senior Orchestra. After the percussion changeover performance, Training and Intermediate percussion leave the stage and return to their seats in the choir stalls. Important: Follow the one-way system at all times. Move quietly and promptly. Follow tutor instructions.

    Rhythm section to arrive by 13:30. NYJO family and friends are welcome to wait in the bar area ready to watch NYJO perform
