Support us

Donations, both financial and time, are vital to NYO.

As an independent orchestra and Registered Charity (No 1157683), Nottingham Youth Orchestra values its links with the community.

NYO receives no local authority or state funding and depends on subscriptions and voluntary donations for its activities. As far as funds allow, we offer financial support to young musicians who would otherwise be unable to enjoy the facilities offered.

NYO appreciates the generosity of its sponsors and individuals who give freely of their time, and is most grateful for their support.

Adopt a chair

Sponsoring a particular position in the orchestra enables NYO to support musical youngsters. Currently NYO is seeking to fund orchestral instruments where numbers of applicants to the orchestra are dropping. Your support may enable lessons for students to learn one of these endangered instruments.

Bursaries

Many families have been affected by recent events and it is important to us that NYO does not exclude students from activities on the basis of financial hardship. Bursaries enable the orchestra to provide financial support towards subscription, residential and trip fees as well as instrumental tuition.

Donations

Regular donations as an NYO Supporter make a huge difference to the number of students we can help. For instance our funds may enable NYO to further inspire members by treating them to see the National Youth Orchestra of GB in concert which we try to do most years.

NYO welcomes any enquiry from business sponsors and we may be able to suggest ways you can help.

“Both quartets were marvellous and drew a great response. The musicians were a delight to work with, a credit to the orchestra.”

Instrument Loan Scheme

Do you have a quality instrument that you could loan to NYO? Instruments are lent to NYO members based on genuine need. A good instrument can make all the difference in enabling a musical youngster to achieve a better sound and inspire them to practise. Each instrument is covered by a comprehensive Loan Agreement.

Parent Helpers

Nottingham Youth Orchestra owes its success to a team of volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds and with varying amounts of time to spare. A small voluntary committee is responsible for organising rehearsals, concerts and tours etc. NYO depends on the support of parents to help rehearsals and concert day run smoothly too.

Sheet Music Sponsor

Orchestral sheet music is an expensive investment but the good news is music is not a throwaway item: it gets played time and again! Sponsoring a new set of orchestral music to add to NYO’s music library means that every time your chosen piece is performed your name/ business can be acknowledged in our concert programme.

“We all felt so proud of our young musicians and music in Nottingham. NYO is such an amazing experience and it’s so refreshing to hear such talent in a world where music in schools is facing such challenging times.”

— Tracey Gordon - Parent
