NYTO - Training Orchestra
Training Orchestra’s young musicians, of grade 2 standard and above, play a range of styles from classical to pop in carefully chosen arrangements under the guidance and support of expert tutors.
The foundations of orchestral playing and how to follow a conductor are laid down in NYTO to be built upon as progress is made through the NYO family of orchestras. Students discover the joys of making music together both as part of their instrument section, in friendly ‘sectional’ rehearsals, and within the whole orchestra setting. For both tutors and youngsters the excitement of performing on stage to family and friends is the highlight of each term’s preparations and effort.
Team work is the theme at the annual trip often in rural Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire, where a great deal of music is played and the children take part in outdoor team building activities all within a social atmosphere.
