Alex Lucas

Alex joined NYO’s Intermediate Orchestra as percussion tutor in 2012 having been a peripatetic music teacher since graduating, working in a number of local schools and as a part-time music lecturer at New College Nottingham.

As a performing musician Alex has played in orchestras, pipe, swing and concert bands, jazz, pop and rock groups as well as leading a samba band. He has toured the UK, Europe and America working with artists such as Paul Tucker (Lighthouse Family) and Steve Power (Robbie Williams's producer). He has also received extensive airplay on local and national radio and performed live sessions for the BBC, Capital FM, KCRW (US) and Channel 4.

In 2021 Alex requalified as a solicitor, however, he remains passionate about music education and continues to perform regularly.
