Ian Taylor

NYO Brass

Ian enjoys his work as a freelance trumpet player, brass teacher at Trent College and tutoring NYO’s senior brass students to help them achieve their best in performance.

After leaving Trinity College of Music, he gained a trumpet chair for six years in the German orchestra the Philharmonie Der Nationen, after which he returned to London and eventually Nottingham.

“Seeing students progress through the NYO orchestras, improving, learning and growing as players and people is hugely rewarding as a tutor. Aside from that I love playing golf (badly), and watching cricket, football or any sport.”
