Members of NYTO and NYIO (NYO's Training and Intermediate Orchestras) had a successful trip to leafy Walesby Forest in Nottinghamshire in mid June. Not only did the weather behave but students shone on the morning's activities: showing prowess on the Climbing Wall and Wobble Pole, excelling at team work in the Cave Maze, and enjoying the Rifle Range and Bushcraft.

After lunch provided by Walesby Forest, and a trip to the gift shop, the youngsters enjoyed an afternoon of orchestral music making in the large marquee. The day ended with a rehearsal performance to families and included the 'Can Can' and a piece designed to make all sections of the orchestra exercise their counting skills. A clear favourite was the musicians enthusiastic verbal 'Geographical Fugue'!

When everybody had gone home and tutors were helping to take the bunting down and pack away, they commented on how impeccably well behaved the youngsters were and what great company! Thank you parents for getting them all there on time.
